Migraine Headache
Nearly 30 million people suffer from migraines. Migraines are more common in women than in men with triggers ranging from emotional stress, to certain foods, to weather conditions.
Common Symptoms
- moderate to severe pain; pounding or throbbing
- often pain is on one side of the head
- pain may shift from one side of the head to the other
- pain may last up to 72 hours
- frequency of 1-4 times per month
- sensitivity to light
- sensitivity to odors
- sensitivity to noise
- stomach upset; nausea or vomiting
- loss of appetite
- abdominal pain
Children With Migraine
Children with migraine may have any of the above symptoms, plus they might:
- look pale
- feel dizzy
- have fever, upset stomach, vomiting, blurred vision
- experience gastrointestinal symptoms that recur on a regular basis
